“The aim of my paintings is to search for the beauty in objects and places in which people pass nonchalantly by. I take aspects from daily life and place them in the spotlight. My paintings are a criticism on the emptiness and meaninglessness of forgotten and neglected public space, so-called non-places. Tracks of human presence become visible through shadows. When making my paintings, I strive for interesting compositions and contrasts.
My paintings are inspired by images from the skate- and snowboard culture. In these images special perspectives emerge, revealing a unique exposure, beautiful colours, and strangely-shaped shadows. Being a skateboarder means that you experience space in a different way. Through a skateboard you can interact with your surroundings. And that is something strange in this synthetic world of plastic and concrete. Skateboarders give new functions to architecture and public space, functions that the original architects could not even dream of.
And it is precisely those places at which most people do not to look back that I display in my paintings.”

Het doel van mijn schilderijen is het mooie te zoeken in objecten en plaatsen waar mensen achteloos langs door lopen. Ik grijp aspecten uit het dagelijkse leven en plaats die vervolgens in de spotlights.
Met mijn schilderijen lever ik kritiek op de leegheid en betekenloosheid van de vergeten architectuur (Non-places). Meestal zijn er sporen van menselijke aanwezigheid te bespeuren door middel van schaduwpartijen. Tijdens het schilderen, ga ik steeds op zoek naar boeiende contrasten en composities. Wat ik juist afbeeld is niet altijd duidelijk voor de toeschouwer. Het is dus aan de toeschouwer om een eigen visie rond het beeld te vormen.
Buiten schilderen hou ik mee ook bezig met grafische vormgeving en tekenen.
